Continuing my journey...
The road has been long and blessed. My instincts to caretake from a place of gratitude and wholeness have always been strong. I have been a preschool teacher, yoga instructor in a therapeutic yoga studio, an office administrator, a homeschooling mom, a goat midwife, professional photographer, an artist and now a doula. I first thought about becoming a doula when I hired a birthing doula for the birth of my second son. She brought a grounding and a reassurance that helped me feel safe, competent, and capable. Her presence changed the dynamic so much that I was able to heal from the story of my first birth. My heart loves the idea of caring for women as they welcome a new member into their family. Mothers who come thru the birthing process with positive experiences are more available for their families, their babies and themselves. I see my role as a doula to bring knowledge and reassurance to birthing mothers so that they can see in themselves what I already know... they are strong, capable, safe, and loved.
